Left Field Lark Radio Podcast: Which Brings Us To… 1981, Part II

by Darren Clarke, August 9, 2021

Part One of the, Which Brings Us To… 1981, podcast was dedicated to my friend Mark Lane and as such had more Billy Idol than you could shake a fist at. As promised, part two, is a little more of a diverse look at the year.

Topics discussed in this episode include- The similarities between Ronald Reagan and the man who shot him in 1981, John Hinckley Jr., Canada’s weakness for suspect accomplishments like- “World’s Biggest Parking Lot,” the prolific album output by Jamaica’s Dub wiz kid-The Scientist, we break down one compelling scene from Miami Vice, pick four solid hours of TV watching from the year’s choices, talk about why the PTL Club is definitely not in that four hours and much more.

Musically I may, or may not, spin some Phil Collins as promised but I can tell you that the music will definitely include the likes of- Penguin Cafe Orchestra, OMD, Depeche Mode, Scientist, Wailing Souls, Men At Work, Human Switchboard, Altered Images, Triumph, Max Webster, Felt, Billy Squier, Van Halen, Duran Duran, Tom Tom Club, Boomtown Rats, Robyn Hitchcock, Rush, Siouxie and the Banshees, and, again, much, much, more.

Enjoy.
